A little more about your role…
The Roads team is seeking a Senior Engineer with extensive postgraduate experience in the design and project management of road schemes and active travel schemes to work in our Belfast office. The team is growing and offers excellent opportunities for the right candidate.
The successful candidate will lead and help grow a team undertaking concept, preliminary, and detailed designs for major road schemes, including the A5WTC, N/M20 Cork to Limerick Road Improvement Scheme, public transport schemes, and active travel schemes for the Transport Authority and Local Authorities.
The right candidate shall be able to take on significant elements of design, either working independently with minimal supervision or leading within multi-discipline project teams. They should be able to analyze information, report findings, and communicate effectively with project stakeholders regarding proposals, assessments, and outcomes.
Responsibilities
* Manage projects and provide engineering expertise on multi-disciplinary infrastructure schemes primarily within Ireland.
* Lead and attend design review and progress meetings with clients.
* Mentor and manage junior staff.
* Provide technical input and design on roads, public transport, and active travel projects, including alignment design and modelling using Civil 3D and BIM integration.
* Apply standards such as DMRB, Transport Infrastructure Ireland, and others.
* Develop and deliver design solutions, manage approvals, and handle project procurement and cost estimation.
* Prepare reports throughout the project lifecycle.
* Ensure technical accuracy through checks and reviews.
* Comply with health, safety, environmental legislation, and quality standards.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate
* A degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
* Incorporated or Chartered Status (AMIEI/MIEI) or equivalent experience.
* Successful project management skills and technical competence in highway engineering.
* Experience in multi-discipline project coordination and client relations.
* Experience with contract preparation and administration, including site supervision.
* Mentoring skills for junior staff.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Commitment to health and safety compliance.
