Your responsibilities will include:
We are looking for a qualified Diesel Mechanic to join our busy Linton team. Based in a shared New Zealand Defence Force/Lockheed Martin workshop, you will play an important role supporting the NZ Army by ensuring vehicles and equipment are safe, reliable, and mission-ready.
You will also work alongside Heavy Automotive Engineering apprentices, helping support their on-the-job learning and development within the workshop environment.
About you:
We’re looking for a motivated and customer-focused automotive professional who takes pride in delivering quality workmanship. You will be a team player who can communicate effectively at all levels and work confidently with minimal supervision.
1. NZQA qualification in Heavy Road Transport
2. Proven experience as a diesel/heavy vehicle mechanic
3. Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems
4. Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills
5. Passion for the automotive trade and mentoring others
Special Requirements:
Applicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain a New Zealand Defence Security Clearance by meeting one of the following criteria:
6. A NZ citizen, OR
7. A NZ Permanent Resident who has resided in NZ for the past 5 years OR
8. A citizen of Australia, Canada, UK or the USA who has a current work permit for NZ
You will also be required to undergo pre-employment activities including drug screening and vetting by NZ Police.
