We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior IT Technician to join our IT support team. The successful candidate will assist in maintaining computer systems, troubleshooting technical issues, and providing first-line support to users. This role is ideal for someone starting their career in IT and looking to develop hands-on technical skills.
The hours are 8am-4pm, Monday to Friday, all year round. This role will work across all Five Acre Wood School sites (in and around Maidstone and Snodland) and may require occasional after-hours or on-call support. Therefore, a clean driving licence is essential.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Provide first-line technical support to end users (hardware, software, and network issues)
2. Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers and mobile devices
3. Assist with user account setup, password resets, and access management
4. Troubleshoot basic network connectivity issues (LAN, Wi-Fi, VPN)
5. Support common operating systems and applications (Windows, macOS, Microsoft 365, etc.)
6. Log, track, and resolve support tickets in a timely manner
7. Escalate complex issues to senior IT staff when required
8. Assist with system updates, backups, and security procedures
9. Follow company IT policies and best practices
Required Skills & Qualifications
10. Basic knowledge of computer hardware, software, and operating systems
11. Familiarity with Windows and/or macOS environments
12. Strong problem-solving and communication skills
13. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
14. Willingness to learn new technologies
15. Relevant IT qualification, diploma, or certification (or currently studying)
Preferred Qualifications (Optional)
16. CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar certification
17. Experience with helpdesk or customer support roles
18. Basic knowledge of Active Directory or Microsoft 365
