As Head of Finance for Newham Hospital, you will report to the Hospital’s Chief Executive with professional accountability to the Trust Deputy Chief Financial Officer – Operational Finance.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver all aspects of financial management and lead a team of accountants to provide day‑to‑day support in all aspects of the Hospital’s financial performance whilst maintaining a positive team culture within the finance function.
* Provide advice, implement and adhere to financial controls, ensuring operational teams are making informed financial decisions and that the hospital strategy is aligned with the overall group financial and operational strategy and plan.
* Deliver financial plans and accurate and timely monthly performance reports to the Trust Board, ensuring procedures and controls are up to date and implemented.
* Support the Deputy CFO with strategic direction and business planning for the Hospital.
* Think broadly across systems and networks to support the Hospital in its evolving role within the region/system.
Key Qualifications
* Qualified accountant with strong financial management and leadership experience, ideally gained within an NHS environment.
* Excellent engagement and influencing skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders – including clinicians, Board members and regulators.
* Champion best practice, look for ways to continuously improve and relish the challenge of working as part of a close team to drive financial performance across a large and complex Trust.
* Ambitious, intelligent, credible and articulate leader with exceptionally high standards and the ability to support and challenge high profile specialist colleagues, who can demonstrate commercial strategic thinking within a healthcare setting.
