Summary:
This position will contribute to world class occupational therapy research and delivering research informed teaching educating the next generation of occupational therapists to respond to the evolving world of health and social care and promote occupational justice.
The post-holder will contribute to a positive student experience through the design and delivery of high-quality research-informed teaching, student support and administration by:
* Engaging the interest and enthusiasm of students, inspiring them to learn
* Developing innovative teaching, learning and assessment methods that are informed by sector best practice and pedagogic scholarship, bringing new insights to the College
* Providing effective student support and guidance
* Taking responsibility for specific administrative duties such as admissions, examinations, assessments
Accountabilities and responsibilities
1. To participate in all aspects of teaching and examining as designated by the Head of Department/Executive Dean of College including such duties as lecturing, supervising students, tutorials, practicals.
2. Course module initiation, design and organisation to ensure courses are run in an effective and efficient manner.
3. Keep up to date in the subject area and provide innovative teaching methods in order to encourage participation and promote self-development and education.
4. To seek new areas of research and carry out high quality research to enhance the research assessment rating of the department/institute/college.
5. To develop collaborative research programmes internally and externally.
6. Publication of research in refereed publications and presentations at conferences.
7. Marketing of research output as appropriate.
8. Application and attracting of external funding/grants.
9. Management of research grants.
10. To contribute to a balanced research profile for the school by providing particular skills or techniques.
11. Participation in Department, College and University committee work as designated by, or on behalf of, the Head.
12. Course administration and timetabling.
Other Duties
* Undertake any other reasonable duties as required and commensurate with the grade of post in accordance with university and departmental policies, procedures and codes of conduct.
* Adhere to and comply with the provisions of the Data Protection Act and the Health and Safety at Work Act in accordance with university policies.
* Promote the University’s Environmental Policy and demonstrate commitment to it through actions and decision making.
* Actively participate in on going professional development activities as requested.
