Environmental Health Officer (Private Sector Housing)
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Environmental Health Practitioner with comprehensive knowledge of legislation pertaining to Environmental Health matters, expertise in investigative techniques, and familiarity with the law of evidence.
We require a dynamic and innovative professional who possesses the technical acumen to deliver both established and emerging interventions.
This role is integral to advancing initiatives that enhance housing conditions, community wellbeing, and housing standards. The successful candidate will participate in implementing the Renters’ Right Act.
Key Responsibilities
* Inspecting private sector housing to ensure adherence to housing standards and regulatory requirements, including Houses in Multiple Occupation
* Investigating and resolving complaints concerning housing conditions, public health nuisances, and environmental hazards
* Providing specialist advice and guidance to property owners, landlords, and tenants regarding housing and public health matters
* Managing Residential Park Home licensing
* Overseeing caravan and tented campsite licensing
Team Collaboration and Support
The officer will work within a dedicated team focused on addressing empty homes, improving energy efficiency and managing disabled facilities grants. Regular team meetings and peer support are part of the structure to provide ongoing guidance and resources to ensure success in the role.
Job Details
Salary: £31,537 - £37,280 per annum
Contractual hours: 37
Basis: Full time
