ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re seeking a Surplus Grocery Buyer to join a fast-paced, high-growth FMCG trading business in Manchester.
This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded buyer or trader who thrives on making quick decisions, negotiating hard, and driving results. You’ll be responsible for sourcing and purchasing surplus, clearance, and short-dated grocery stock, working with brand partners, wholesalers, and manufacturers to unlock value and margin.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Source and negotiate surplus and short-dated grocery products from suppliers across the UK and Europe.
* Build and maintain trusted relationships with brand partners, wholesalers, and manufacturers.
* React quickly to stock offers and opportunities to maximise commercial return.
* Work closely with the CEO, Category, and Supply Chain teams to ensure smooth stock flow and availability.
* Provide insight into market trends, pricing, and competitor activity to identify trading opportunities.
* Ensure purchases deliver strong margins and align with business strategy.
ABOUT THE CANDIDATE
We’re looking for someone with a strong FMCG trading or buying background, ideally with experience in grocery, foodservice, or wholesale.
You’ll bring:
* A trader’s mentality – commercially sharp, decisive, and results-focused.
* Proven negotiation and supplier relationship management experience.
* The ability to operate in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
* A proactive, hands-on approach and confidence to make quick commercial calls.
* Experience in surplus, clearance, or short-dated stock is a major advantage.
This role would suit an experienced Buyer or Trader who thrives in fast-moving businesses and wants to step into a more autonomous, growth-focused environment.
