Proposed Start Date: September 2024
The highly successful, thriving and popular Science department is seeking a new Chemistry teacher to join in September 2024 on a full-time permanent basis.
The Science department has 11 laboratories at the main Tunbridge Wells campus and six further laboratories at the Sevenoaks campus. All are fully equipped for high-quality teaching and learning and one laboratory is specialised for teaching A Level Chemistry. The Science department is supported by a team of four technicians.
At KS3, students follow an adapted and extended version of the Activate Science scheme and at GCSE we teach the AQA syllabus with all students studying separate Science GCSEs. Years 7–9 are taught general Science until Year 10 when Biology, Chemistry and Physics are taught as separate subjects. Science at A Level continues to be a highly popular choice, with Chemistry numbers growing each year. At A Level Chemistry students follow the OCR specification.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about the Science curriculum and how this can be taught in an inspiring way to maximise student engagement and success. They will be able to provide effective support to the Science department and steer areas of common interest and strategy across the department in order to enhance the quality of learning and achievement. Applications are welcome from experienced teachers and ECTs at this popular and over-subscribed boys’ grammar school with mixed sixth form.
