Role Overview
We're looking for a passionate and driven Football Writer Intern with a strong interest in football and sports journalism. This internship is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in match reporting, feature writing, player profiling, and editorial storytelling within a growing sports media brand.
You'll contribute written content focused on youth-level competitions such as the U18 Premier League, FA Youth Cup, Premier League 2, and other academy competitions. You'll be encouraged to develop your voice, refine your analytical skills, and produce content that reflects the professionalism expected in sports media, with guidance from experienced team members.
Key Responsibilities
Write match reports covering youth football fixtures.
Produce player features, analysis pieces, and competition previews.
Research youth players, clubs, and competitions to ensure accuracy.
Develop engaging headlines and structured, well-written articles.
Meet agreed deadlines for editorial submissions.
Take initiative in identifying story angles and content ideas.
Work collaboratively with the editorial and social teams to maximise reach.
Qualifications
Strong passion for football, particularly youth and academy football.
Excellent written communication skills.
Solid understanding of grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure.
Ability to write clearly, concisely, and professionally.
Good research skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage time effectively in a remote environment.
Interest in sports journalism or sports media as a career path.
