Description Property Inspector – Repairs Waverley Court Hours: 36 per week Salary £33,287 - £39,129 The City of Edinburgh Council’s Housing Service is offering an excellent opportunity to join our team as a Property Inspector. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality repairs services. Our team of Quality Control officers plays a key part in verifying that repairs, maintenance, and capital works meet the Council’s lettable standards. The position involves a diverse range of responsibilities, including housing repair specification work and on-site inspections to ensure maintenance is carried out to a high standard. Follow us on Twitter at @edincounciljobs View Property Inspector Job Description Responsibilities Experience - Experience of reporting, raising required repairs in and around domestic properties. Experience of inspection of works and the ability to make technical assessments on site ensuring making the property safe. Experience of post check quality of work carried out within a home. Ability to carry out quality assurance on remedial work, repairs and defects, ensuring quality standards are maintained. Experience of working with tenants to provide excellent customer service. Knowledge, skills and understanding - Ability to specific works and ensuring repair has been carried out to an acceptable standard. Knowledge of the lettable standard and statutory responsibilities and ability to apply that knowledge in specifying repairs and servicing needs. Ability to communication with other staff and customers clearly, ensuring understanding of technical/complex issues. Ability to make decisions relating to repairs taking into consideration the safety and wellbeing of the tenant, the longer term investment and repair costs of maintaining the tenancy in a good condition and cost implications to service. Ability to challenge internal operatives and external contractors on quality of work and ensure remedial work is carried out to the appropriate standard. Qualifications and training - An HNC level or equivalent qualification in a building related subject or have proven up-to-date knowledge and expertise equivalent to this qualification. Significant experience in a relevant trade, including specification of work. Job specific requirements - Must have a full UK driving licence and access to their own vehicle.
