About the role
Do you have significant maritime & instructional experience and are seeking an exciting new role? The RNLI is recruiting for a full-time Sea Survival Centre Trainer in Poole.
There aren’t many jobs that combine the excitement and the thrill of training volunteer lifeboat crews in personal sea survival techniques, capsize training on the Atlantic and D class lifeboats, basic fire safety awareness and ultimately providing crew with the skills and knowledge to save lives at sea.
As a Sea Survival Centre Trainer, you can expect:
7. In this physically demanding role, you will need to maintain a high level of fitness due to spending prolonged periods in the sea survival pool, whilst confidently teaching and ensuring student safety
8. Deliver practical sea survival training and classroom-based theory sessions, at the dedicated Sea Survival Centre in Poole
9. Conduct assessments and deliver feedback
10. Ensure lifesaving training equipment is kept in good working order
To succeed in this role, you must have:
11. Minimum 6 months commercial maritime experience
12. High level of water confidence and fitness
13. Knowledge of the RNLI and its operations
14. An interactive and inclusive training style
15. The ability to work collaboratively with volunteers and staff, course participants, and the existing training team
Desirable qualifications and experience for this role:
16. IMO Train the Trainer (6.01) or equivalent teacher training qualifications
17. Background in firefighting, sea survival or first aid
