General Operative – Marina Site Maintenance & Cleaning

We’re recruiting for a General Operative to join a busy marina site in Southampton, helping maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for visitors, residents, and staff.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who takes pride in keeping outdoor spaces well-presented and running smoothly.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for the upkeep of all external areas across the marina estate, including:
Daily litter picking across pathways, car parks, and communal areas
Sweeping and blowing of hard surfaces to remove debris and leaves
Bin management – emptying, cleaning, and ensuring tidy surrounding areas
Graffiti removal to maintain site standards
Pressure washing surfaces to keep areas clean and presentable
Cleaning and maintaining site signage
Weekly Yacht Club cleaning (2 hours), including:
Hoovering hallways, stairways, and lifts
Cleaning mirrors, lighting, banisters, ceilings, and skirting
Mopping floors and polishing surfaces
You’ll work closely with on-site staff to ensure the site remains aligned with operational standards.
Working Hours
Monday to Friday: 8 hours per day
Every other Saturday: 4 hours (rota-based)
Includes 2 hours per week dedicated to Yacht Club cleaning
Total: 40 hours per week
What We’re Looking For
Experience in cleaning, maintenance, or facilities/site work (preferred)
Someone reliable, proactive, and able to work independently
Good attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
Team player with a positive attitude
