Job Title: Domestic Cleaner
Responsible to: Area Manager, Registered Manager
Purpose of the position: The purpose of a domestic cleaner position in a care home includes.
Maintaining Cleanliness: Ensuring that the care home is clean and sanitized to provide a safe and comfortable environment for residents.
Infection Control: Implementing proper cleaning and disinfection protocol to prevent the spread of infections, is especially important in healthcare settings.
Safety: Reducing potential hazards by keeping common areas and resident rooms free of culture and maintaining a hazard-free environment.
Enhancing Comfort: Contributing to the well-being of residents by creating a clean and pleasant living space.
Supporting caregivers: Assisting the caregiving staff by ensuring they have a clean and organized workspace to provide care.
Teamwork: Collaborating with other staff members to ensure a seamless operation within the care home.
Respect and Compassion: Treating residents with respect and empathy while performing cleaning duties.

Principal Responsibility as a domestic cleaner
· To undertake cleaning duties in areas as directed by the General Manager.
· To report maintenance issues immediately, e.g., broken equipment.
· To be responsible for ordering and maintaining cleaning equipment stock.
· To clean and maintain communal areas within the care home, including cleaning surfaces and vacuuming and dusting.
· To have an understanding and comply with all COSHH regulations.
· To work within the relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
· To attend training courses as identified and agreed for appropriate development.
· To comply with current legislation concerning infection control.
· To ensure the appropriate recording and audits required are prioritised.
