Apprentice Toolmaker / Maintenance Technician RCT Area | Manufacturing | Permanent Haystack Selection is recruiting on behalf of an established manufacturing business in the RCT area for an Apprentice Toolmaker / Maintenance Technician. This opportunity is suited to someone who has completed their engineering qualification and gained hands-on machining experience, and is now looking to develop their career within a busy production environment. The successful candidate will already have practical workshop exposure and be ready to step into a structured manufacturing setting. Key Responsibilities Machining components using manual lathes, milling machines and associated workshop equipment. Supporting tool manufacture, repair and modification. Assisting with breakdown response and planned maintenance activities. Carrying out mechanical fault finding and repairs. Working from engineering drawings and maintaining tight tolerances. Ensuring tooling and machinery meet production standards. Maintaining a safe and organised working environment. Skills & Experience Required Completed recognised engineering qualification (NVQ / City & Guilds / BTEC or equivalent). Practical machining experience including lathe and milling. Previous hands-on workshop or manufacturing experience. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. Confident personality with the ability to work under pressure. Strong work ethic and mature attitude. Keen to build a long-term career in toolmaking and maintenance within manufacturing. This role may also be of interest to candidates with experience as Junior Toolmaker, Trainee Toolmaker, Engineering Technician, Mechanical Maintenance Technician or Apprentice Maintenance Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity for a capable and motivated engineer who is not brand new to the workshop environment but still early in their career and looking for long-term development within a stable manufacturing business.
