Energy Engineering Director

Responsibilities
* Lead the in‑house design and engineering team, maintaining team morale, motivation, loyalty, and productivity.
* Provide technical mentoring and foster a centre of excellence culture.
* Represent Equans to external stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, and industry trade bodies.
* Manage team resources and budgets across multiple design projects to ensure time, cost, and quality outcomes.
* Oversee the utilisation of an external specialist supply‑chain.
* Offer technical expertise spanning diverse project environments and technology areas.
* Lead design and development processes from RIBA 2 to 4C.
* Support the progression of projects to construction from RIBA 5 to 7 in an advisory capacity.
* Ensure compliance with contracts, legislation, regulations, and codes.
* Drive continuous improvement of the business function, including design management systems and new technologies.
* Coordinate interfaces with sales, construction, operational teams, SHEQ, procurement, and legal departments.
* Set strategic direction for business growth, communicating new technologies, markets, and pipelines.
Qualifications
* Degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in a relevant engineering discipline, accredited by the Engineering Council.
* Membership of an applicable engineering institution – CIBSE, IMechE, IET.
* Experience in mechanical and electrical design – building services and infrastructure.
* Knowledge of statutory consenting processes – planning, building control, highways, environmental, etc.
* Familiarity with regulations, legislation, design codes and standards – CIBSE, BSRIA, IMechE, IEEE, RIBA, etc.
* Proficiency in core design software – AutoCAD, REVIT, IES VE.
* Experience in measurement & verification processes.
* Design & project management of complex multi‑disciplinary projects.
* Experience as a CDM Principal Designer.
