Reports to: Nursery Manager
Purpose of the Role
To lead and inspire a team of Early Years Practitioners in delivering exceptional care and education, ensuring every child thrives in a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities
 * Lead, motivate, and support a team of Early Years Practitioners, promoting teamwork and professional growth.
 * Provide an inclusive, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for children, staff, and families.
 * Ensure full compliance with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
 * Act as Key Person for a group of children, building strong relationships with parents and carers.
 * Maintain high standards of health, safety, and welfare, in line with legislation and nursery policies.
 * Support the Nursery Manager in maintaining high-quality provision across all areas (learning, catering, hygiene, maintenance).
 * Monitor children’s development, analyse progress data, and implement strategies to enhance learning outcomes.
 * Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and external professionals.
 * Lead room meetings, supervisions, and contribute to wider staff meetings and planning.
 * ️ Act as a key holder and take responsibility for daily operations in the Manager or Deputy’s absence.
Principal Duties
 1. Lead the room team to maintain high standards of care, learning, and behaviour.
 2. Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate activities in line with EYFS guidance.
 3. Conduct staff supervisions and contribute to appraisals and professional development.
 4. Work collaboratively with other Room Leaders to coordinate staffing, ratios, and rotas.
 5. Ensure all children’s individual needs are met and that records, observations, and assessments are accurate and up to date.
 6. Promote positive behaviour management and model best practice in all interactions.
 7. Liaise with parents and outside agencies, arranging and leading visits when required.
 8. Uphold all nursery policies, including Safeguarding and Confidentiality.
 9. Support student placements, providing guidance and feedback.
 10. Take part in administrative and operational duties as required.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
