You will be responsible for the commercial valuation, position management and subsequent contract pricing of IREC Certificates.
How will I spend my time in this role?
* Position Management – Manage the IREC renewable commodity positions;
* Speculative Transactions – Execute trades such that the book value is improved (positive retained P&L) by additional transactions not solely undertaken for the benefit of retail/PPA balancing;
* Strategy / Product Development – Develop Smartest’s product suite, to ensure Smartest can fully serve the net zero ambitions of their clients;
* Renewable Pricing – Provide support for all renewable pricing activities;
* Market Presence – Develop and maintain relationships with Smartest’s wholesale renewable counterparties and renewable commodity brokers.
What skills/experience do I need to be successful?
* Some experience of renewable certificate, emissions and/or fuel trading at a utility, trading house, bank or similar institution;
* Extensive experience of analysing market data and trends to develop new commercial strategies;
* Extensive network in the UK and European energy markets;
* Experience of the full deal life cycle - originating, structuring and executing.
* Extensive and current market knowledge (e.g. market participants, market fundamentals, price and volatility trends, current key value opportunities for SmartestEnergy);
* Extensive knowledge of UK and European emissions, alternative fuels and renewable certificates.
