THE PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Our Expert Witness Service has experienced significant growth over the last year, with further growth anticipated in the coming months so we're looking for an MLQA Specialist to help us meet the growth demand from our solicitor customers, while maintaining quality and ensuring robust support for both Experts and Customers.
The main purpose of this role is to provide quality assurance support to Bush and Co and Associate Expert Witnesses for the preparation of high-quality medico-legal quantum reports, drawing on your clinical background in Expert Witness work and Occupational Therapy. This role additionally involves provides training consultation and support to Associate Expert Witnesses, ensuring that expert reports meet the expectations of the legal process and Part 35 requirements.
If you come from a clinical background and have experience of producing Expert Witness reports, we'd be interested in hearing from you. We're also open to applications from those with a PI or Clinical Negligence legal background.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
1. Providing support and training consultation to Associate Expert Witnesses involved in quantum cases, to develop their skills and expertise.
2. Supporting Associate Expert Witnesses to meet deadlines and adhere to Service Level Agreements efficiently.
3. Reviewing complex medico-legal reports, offering feedback to enhance the final product and in line with Procedural rule requirements.
4. Participating in and providing input during weekly drop in clinics, sharing knowledge and insights relevant to quantum cases.
5. Collaborating with the Reports Team and Quality Assurance Team to ensure seamless support and delivery of high-standard medico-legal services, as identified by the Head of Business Operations.
6. Collaborating with the Head of Expert Witness to deliver relevant aspects of the Bush and Co Medico Legal training programme.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
7. Clinical qualification in relevant professional field (degree advantageous, minimum 10 years post registration): for example, Nurse, OT. (essential)
8. Background in healthcare. Preferably with some experience of care package provision and individuals with long term health needs. (essential)
9. Background in Civil Law. Preferably within the Clinical Negligence and Personal Injury sector. (desirable)
10. Ability to understand and calculate costs associated with care/therapy provision as recommended within Associate Expert Witness reports. (desirable)
11. Strong attention to detail and ability to focus.
12. Ability to react to frequently changing time scales
13. Ability to identify the medico-legal aspects of the claim-cycle.
14. IT skills – outlook, word, excel.

WORKING HOURS
Our core working hours are 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. We are open to applications for this role on a full-time or part-time basis on a job-share arrangement (for which the salary would be pro-rated). In this scenario, one individual would be focused on Care/Occupational Therapy mentoring, and the other on Liability mentoring (with both roles providing support to the QA team.)
