We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist who wants to continue developing their skills working in Stroke Rehabilitation.
With a commitment to multi‑disciplinary working to achieve the best possible care for our stroke patients, you will join a dedicated integrated therapy team alongside physiotherapists, speech & language therapists, and Rehabilitation Assistants to deliver care on an inpatient stroke unit.

Main duties of the job
With a recognised degree in occupational therapy or equivalent and registration with the Health & Care Professionals Council, you will monitor and review occupational therapy care plans against outcome measures and adjust care plans to facilitate attainment of goals.
Using strong organisational, planning and prioritisation skills, you will maintain accurate, comprehensive records of assessment and treatment in line with British Association of Occupational Therapy national standards and local policy.
You will effectively examine and assess stroke patients, identifying their problems and needs, ensuring that medical, psychological, social, environmental and cultural factors are taken into account.
With a flexible attitude and the ability to adapt, you will maintain a calm and professional approach to all duties, including participation in a weekend and bank holiday rota.
As a naturally empathetic individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you will build rapport and demonstrate compassion towards patients and carers, providing effective advice to individuals during difficult circumstances.
As a problem solver with well‑developed concentration and analytical skills, you will utilise examination and assessment findings to competently plan and carry out realistic programmes of treatment from a range of therapeutic options appropriate to each patient, using evidence‑based practice in stroke.
Person Specification
Education/Qualifications
* Recognised BSc (Hons) degree in occupational therapy or equivalent
* State registration via Health and Care Professions Council
* Registered member of the British Association of Occupational Therapy
Knowledge and experience
* Postgraduate clinical experience as a junior in a broad rotational post
* Specialist knowledge of occupational therapy assessment and treatment technique
* Working knowledge of local and national policies and procedures (e.g. Manual Handling, College of Occupational Therapists/Health and Care Professionals Council Code of Conduct/Ethics, Health and Safety, Infection Control, CPR, Equality and Diversity)
* Evidence of continual professional development
* Experience of and commitment to interdisciplinary and multi‑disciplinary team working
* Experience of supervision of students and assistants
* Evidence of contribution to clinical education and in‑service training of less experienced staff, students and assistants
* Previous experience at this level
* Evidence of participation in research
* Attendance of a clinical educators course
