Offer description

We are looking for a dedicated, compassionate, and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to support young people with autism spectrum condition (ASC) and complex learning needs. As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside a supportive team of professionals, helping students to reach their full potential in both their academic and personal development.

Role Responsibilities

* Supporting pupils in small, structured classes to achieve their learning goals.
* Using communication aids (such as PECS, Makaton, or visual supports) to promote understanding.
* Assisting with sensory and behaviour support strategies.
* Encouraging social interaction, emotional regulation, and independence.
* Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and families to provide a holistic support approach.

About You

* Have experience supporting children or young people with SEND, particularly autism.
* Are compassionate, patient, and able to build strong, positive relationships with students.
* Have excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
* Are flexible, positive, and open to learning new strategies and techniques.
* Hold (or are willing to work towards) a relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
* We particularly welcome applicants from care, support work, or nursing backgrounds. Your experience in these fields – whether working with vulnerable individuals, providing care, or supporting people with complex needs – will be highly valued and transferable to this important role.

Why Apply

* Ongoing training in autism, communication strategies, and support techniques.
* A collaborative, supportive environment where you'll be encouraged to grow and develop your skills.
* A rewarding role where you can have a lasting impact on students' development.

How to Apply

To apply, please submit your CV and a brief supporting statement explaining why you are interested in this role and what experience you can bring.
