Role Summary
This popular hotel, situated on the outskirts of Whitehaven, is seeking an experienced chef to become an integral part of its kitchen team. The successful applicant will be expected to demonstrate prior experience in a professional kitchen, with a proven ability to consistently produce food of the highest quality. Efficiency in service, a commitment to maintaining high standards, and a focus on workplace safety are essential throughout all aspects of the role.
Key Responsibilities
· Assist the head chef with the daily operation and management of the kitchen.
· Prepare and deliver agreed menus to an exceptional standard.
· Control stock levels and actively work to minimise wastage.
· Ensure that the agreed gross profit percentage (GP%) targets are met.
· Uphold rigorous standards of hygiene and safety across all kitchen activities.
· Maintain cleanliness of work areas and kitchen machinery.
· Oversee the ordering and storage of food supplies to ensure quality and compliance.
Personal Qualities Required
We are seeking a chef who possesses a genuine desire to work collaboratively as part of a team, with a focus on contributing to the long-term success of the business. The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate initiative, confidently managing tasks independently when required.
Strong interpersonal skills are a must, enabling effective communication and cooperation with colleagues in the kitchen, front of house staff, and management alike. In addition, applicants must hold or be willing to work towards a Level 3 food safety certificate, evidencing their commitment to maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and safety in the workplace.
