The Role: Environmental Permitting Specialist
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Environmental Permitting Specialist to join our team. As an Environmental Permitting Specialist, you will play a crucial role in supporting the development of environmental permit applications and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Your primary responsibilities will include providing expertise in understanding radiological emissions associated with proposed project technologies, working with SMR Technology Providers (TPs) to develop site-specific designs, and managing supply chain activities to support EP-RSA permissions.
You will also be responsible for reviewing GDA submissions, identifying areas of further work required for EP-RSA submissions, and developing scopes and programmes for EP-RSA applications.
Key aspects of the job involve engaging with TPs, developing BAT cases, specifying scopes of work, and managing supply chain activities to support successful EP-RSA applications.

Responsibilities:
* Act as overarching technical lead for EP-RSA permitting activities.
* Review GDA submissions to identify current status of the design and define areas of further work required for EP-RSA submissions.
* Work with TPs to understand their proposals to close GDA submission gaps and address any regulatory issues, observations and/or assessment findings.
* Develop the scope and programme for the EP-RSA application, including supporting modelling, assessments and other supporting information.
* Identify and develop a programme for the supply of design and operational information required to inform for the EP-RSA application.
* Specify and manage the delivery of supply chain activities in support of the EP-RSA permissions.
Requirements:
* A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or a related technical field.
* Full membership (at minimum) of a relevant professional institution.
* Recent experience working in a similar role in the nuclear sector.
* Demonstrated ability to deliver projects on time and on budget.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills, able to develop relationships and maintain effective networks.
