We are working with a supportive primary school in South Shields who are looking for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 2 pupil with additional needs. This role is ideal for someone who understands the importance of building trust and providing tailored, consistent support to help a child thrive both academically and emotionally. Role overview As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will provide dedicated support to a pupil throughout the school day. You will help them access learning, manage emotions and feel confident within the classroom environment. You’ll work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to ensure the support provided is consistent, effective and tailored to the pupil’s individual needs. Key responsibilities Provide consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day Adapt learning activities to suit the pupil’s needs Support emotional regulation and transitions Implement strategies in line with EHCP targets Encourage independence and confidence Build a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil Work collaboratively with teaching staff and parents Requirements Experience supporting children with SEND A nurturing, patient and understanding approach Ability to build strong relationships Consistency and reliability Understanding of EHCPs is desirable If you’re looking for a rewarding role where your support truly matters, we’d love to hear from you.
