We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Family Support Worker to join our pastoral team. This is a rewarding role where you will make a direct and meaningful difference to the lives of children and their families, helping remove barriers to learning and supporting parents to feel empowered, confident, and connected.

About the Role
As our Family Support Worker, you will play a vital role in early intervention and preventative support, working closely with children, parents/carers, and a range of external agencies. You will help families overcome challenges that may affect a child’s wellbeing, attendance, and engagement with school.

Your work will include leading Early Help processes, supporting families with attendance concerns, offering parenting support, and helping ensure children feel safe, supported, and able to thrive.

Key Responsibilities

Parenting Support and Early Intervention

6. Lead and coordinate school‑led Early Help cases, including CIN and TAF meetings
7. Support parents to strengthen their parenting skills through advice, guidance, and group sessions
8. Provide impartial information on school systems and local support services
9. Offer early intervention support for families experiencing social, emotional, or behavioural difficulties
10. Listen to the voice of the child and ensure it is central in all planning and decision making


Parental Engagement in Learning

11. Build positive relationships with parents to increase confidence and engagement in their child’s learning
12. Support families through transitions, including to secondary school
13. Facilitate family learning opportunities and promote positive home learning environments


Attendance Support

14. Work with families to understand and improve patterns of absence
15. Conduct home visits where appropriate
16. Liaise with attendance officers and support families to establish consistent routines
17. Provide advocacy for children and parents when needed


Multi‑Agency Working

18. Build effective working relationships with external agencies, maintaining high‑quality safeguarding practice
19. Complete accurate records, reports, and assessments
20. Participate in strategic meetings and professional development as required

27. Communicates clearly and builds strong, trusting relationships
28. Upholds safeguarding responsibilities with the highest level of diligence
