Procurement Specialist Urgently required to work for a world leading manufacturing organisation based near Uxbridge. You will be a key part of a growing department that is undergoing major growth over the next 6 months. You will support the sourcing, purchasing, and management of materials and components for a dedicated New Product Introduction team.
This role focuses on ensuring supplier readiness, material availability, and adherence to programme timelines and quality standards. You will work closely with engineering, quality, and suppliers to build capability in APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) and ensure smooth progression from prototype through to production.
We have the opportunity to be flexible with this role and are open to Procurement specialists who are early in their career who wan tot grow and learn their trade, However we are also open to experienced and seasoned candidates who can hit the ground running. The current team manager has a strong procurement background and is willing to support training and development.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with engineering, R&D, and project teams to understand NPI requirements
Support sourcing and purchasing of materials and components for NPI projects in line with programme schedules
Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, acting as a first point of contact for programme activities.
Develop suppliers to introduce and coach them through APQP processes, ensuring alignment with programme requirements
Coordinate and track supplier deliverables such as PPAP documentation, control plans, and FMEAs where applicable
Manage RFQs and assist in evaluating supplier quotations based on cost, capability, and lead time.
Monitor supplier performance and follow up on delivery schedules, escalating potential issues early.
Support engineering change activities, ensuring procurement data and BOMs remain accurate and up to date.
Assist in the transition from NPI to production, helping ensure supplier readiness and cost efficiency
Required Qualifications & Skills
Degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field
3+ years of procurement experience, preferable in NPI or manufacturing environment
Understanding of supply chain management, sourcing processes, and BOM structures
Experience using ERP/MRP systems (IFS preferred)
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
High attention to detail with good organizational and problem-solving abilitiesDesirables
Experience in mechanical engineering, precision components or high-pressure systems
Understanding of NPI lifecycle, from prototype through to production release
Familiarity or exposure to APQP / PPAP / supplier quality planning principles
APICS/CIPS (Level 4) certification
