Job Summary
At FCDO Services we protect the UK’s interests at home and overseas by designing and constructing secure government facilities, safeguarding technology, and delivering world‑class digital solutions. As part of our Digital and Data Technology team you will play a vital role in keeping our infrastructure solutions running smoothly, ensuring the highest quality service to our government clients.
Responsibilities
* Respond to incidents and resolve technical problems across cloud and on‑premises environments.
* Identify performance optimisation opportunities and minimise security risks.
* Analyze patterns in repeat issues, recommend changes, and implement improvements.
* Manage relationships with customers, external teams, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
* Translate architectural drawings, diagrams, and data flows into actionable tasks.
* Mentor junior colleagues and lead knowledge sharing sessions.
* Update and maintain technical and functional documentation.
* Implement new technologies and solutions to improve service quality.
* Participate in change, release, and incident management processes in an agile ITIL environment.
Qualifications / Person Specification
* Level 3 Information Communication Technician or equivalent qualification in IT or Computer Science.
* Agile & ITIL Foundation level experience.
* Microsoft role‑based certifications – Expert level or higher.
* Expertise in Microsoft products, Azure/AWS cloud services, network fundamentals, AD/WIN TEX (DNS, Group Policy, PKI).
* Experience with backup solutions such as VEEAM and monitoring/reporting tools.
* Proven track record of problem and incident management in high‑pressure, fast‑paced teams.
* Knowledge of change and release management; experience in ITIL4 environments a plus.
* Experience in a secure environment (e.g., MOD) is desirable.
* Analytical mindset, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to write KBA’s and technical documentation.
* Ability to manage and mentor junior staff, reporting to senior engineering leadership.
