Early Years Childcare Practitioner (Maternity Cover)
Please note this is a fixed-term position for 12 months (Maternity Cover).
Working hours: 16 hours per week (over 3 days, term time only: Monday, Tuesday, and Friday).

From 1st September 2025, we have a great opportunity for an Early Years Childcare Practitioner to join our team at Smiley Centre for Children, Leigh on Sea. We are registered with Ofsted to provide Early Years care and education for children aged 2.5 to 5 years. At Smiley Centre for Children, we provide high-quality childcare and education, giving children a strong foundation for their future learning.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Under the direction of the Early Years Setting Manager, work as part of the team to provide safe, high-quality education and care for all children attending the session.
Candidate Requirements:
1. A caring attitude and genuine desire to work with children.
2. A minimum of a Full and Relevant Level 3 qualification in Early Years Education.
3. Current paediatric first aid qualification.
4. At least one year's experience working in an Early Years / Childcare setting.
5. Working knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
6. Understanding of safeguarding principles and procedures.
7. Empathy with and ability to work within the Christian ethos and aims of The Salvation Army.
