About the Company
Our client is a well-equipped precision engineering company, with assets including Haas milling machines, Doosan CNC lathes, Haas ST‑20Y mill‑turn lathes, and a forthcoming Doosan 2600M. As a third‑generation heritage business, it is now part of a larger, diverse, and fast‑growing group, providing automation, robotics, M&E, FMCG, specialist engineering, R&D/NPD, and turnkey projects.
The Role
You will be responsible for the full turning process from start to finish, including the following:
- Programming CNC lathes using Alphacam CAM software
- Setting and operating Doosan and Haas lathes
- Machining a variety of materials, including aluminium, stainless steel, specialised steels and brass
- Handling batch sizes ranging from one-off prototypes to production runs of up to 400 parts
- Deburring, quality checking and final inspection of finished components
- Working independently and collaboratively within the turning team
Qualifications and Attributes
- Strong, proven experience programming, setting and operating CNC lathes – particularly Doosan and Haas
- Experience machining a range of metals to tight tolerances
- Ability to manage the full manufacturing process autonomously
- Experience on mill‑turn lathes is a distinct advantage
- A reliable, quality-focused approach and the ability to work well in a small team
Benefits and Compensation
- Highly competitive basic salary – up to £45,000 per annum, depending on experience
- Basic annual leave entitlement of four weeks, including bank holidays
- Additional two weeks (80 hours) of leave or salary benefit, potentially worth £1,730 per annum or a combination thereof
- Flexible hours available, provided 40 hours are completed Monday to Friday
- Annual/Christmas bonus, subject to business performance
- All hours over 40 are paid with an overtime premium
