Locum Consultant in Chemical Pathology and Metabolic Medicine
Join to apply for the Locum Consultant in Chemical Pathology and Metabolic Medicine role at NHS University Hospitals of Liverpool Group.
The post is for 10 Programmed Activities (PAs): 8 clinical Direct Clinical Care (DCC) sessions including two laboratory sessions and 2 supporting programmed activities (SPAs).
Responsibilities
* Take the lead in managing and developing the Bone metabolic service.
* Share responsibility at consultant level in the metabolic bone disease and lipid outpatient clinics.
* Provide a clinical advisory service for Clinical Biochemistry in the Blood Sciences Department of Liverpool Clinical Laboratories (LcL).
* Participate in multidisciplinary meetings related to metabolic medicine.
* Lead the clinical governance meetings for the speciality.
* Provide consultant level clinical and training supervision of medical and other staff associated with the unit.
* Help develop and maintain multidisciplinary clinical networks and care pathways appropriate to the evolving needs of patients, including development of virtual consultations and engagement with patient representative groups.
* Observe the Trust’s policies and procedures, and follow the standing orders and financial instructions of the Trust, subject to Terms and Conditions of Service.
* All medical and dental staff are expected to comply with Risk Management and Health and Safety Policies and with General Medical Council Good Medical Practice guidelines.
About the Department and Location
The department of Metabolic Medicine is based at the Edward Building (4th floor) at the new Royal Liverpool Hospital site. The Liverpool Clinical Laboratories (LCL) hub laboratories are based at the Royal site with spoke laboratories at Aintree, Broadgreen, and Liverpool Women’s Hospital.
Qualifications and Experience
Full registration with the General Medical Council and relevant certification in Chemical Pathology, with proven experience in chemical pathology, including expertise in clinical biochemistry, endocrinology and metabolic disorders.
