Quantity Surveyor
We are looking for experienced Quantity Surveyors with a strong track record in major construction, infrastructure, or civils projects to join our team delivering high‑profile programmes for a leading UK infrastructure client in the ports and logistics sector, as well as other key national clients.
This role offers the chance to apply your commercial, contractual, and technical expertise on complex infrastructure programmes while developing a clear career pathway into the UK Defence sector. What you’ll bring
* Experience in cost management, estimating, quantity surveying, or contract administration
* Background in large‑scale infrastructure or civils projects
* Strong commercial acumen and the ability to work within complex stakeholder environments
* A desire to broaden your career into the Defence and national security domain
Qualifications
* Proven experience in quantity surveying or commercial management within major construction, infrastructure, or civils projects.
* Strong understanding of procurement, contract placement, and post‑award management.
* Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
* Experience with NEC and JCT contracts.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
Desired
* Awareness of UK Government procurement frameworks (QDC, DSPCR, PCR).
* Professional qualification (RICS, CICES, CIPS) or working towards it.
* Proficiency in cost management software (for example CostX, CATO, Excel).
* Experience in bid writing or evaluation techniques.
Security Clearance
Due to the sensitive nature of the work involved in our specialist defence projects, candidates will be required to hold, or be eligible to obtain, Security Clearance (SC). To meet the criteria for this level of clearance, applicants must:
* be a British National
* hold a valid UK passport
* hold 5–10 years of continuous UK residency, depending on the level
SOX control responsibilities may apply to this role and must be adhered to where relevant.
Hybrid Working
We embrace a hybrid approach to work. This means you may collaborate with colleagues from:
* home
* A Turner & Townsend office
* Client sites across the region (on a weekly basis)
There will also be moments when in-person collaboration is essential, and you will need to travel when required, typically 2–3 days per week.
