Overview

South Lanarkshire Council is looking for a motivated and professional Personnel Officer to join our Finance and Corporate Resources team supporting Education Resources. This is a varied and rewarding role, combining expertise in maximising attendance with employee relations, while contributing to wider HR policy development and service improvement.

Hours: 35 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
Salary: £40,804 - £46,991 per year
Vacancy: Permanent

Responsibilities

* Advising managers on our Maximising Attendance Policy, helping to improve attendance and wellbeing across the organisation.
* Liaising with employees, Personnel colleagues, Occupational Health team, employee support, and trade unions to ensure a consistent, supportive approach to absence and employee relations issues.
* Providing expert advice on discipline, grievance, dignity at work, terms and conditions, and other personnel matters.
* Leading investigations and representing Personnel Services at hearings and meetings.
* Contributing to the development, implementation, and review of HR policies and procedures.
* Promoting equality, inclusion, and fairness in all aspects of service delivery.


What We're Looking For

* A professional HR qualification and/or relevant experience in operational HR service delivery, with strong knowledge of personnel policies, employment law, and best practice.
* Confident communicator with excellent organisational skills, able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
* Experience in a public sector or unionised setting is an advantage.
