Are you ready to take the next step in your career as a mechanical quality assurance manager? This is an exceptional opportunity for someone with a strong mechanical or plumbing background and a proven record in site or project management.
In this role, the mechanical quality assurance manager will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards across mechanical and MEP installations on fast-paced, complex developments. Working closely with site teams, clients, and subcontractors, you'll lead the quality agenda from installation through to commissioning and handover.
We're seeking a mechanical quality assurance manager who is practical, highly organised, and committed to doing things properly. You'll conduct inspections, maintain meticulous QA documentation, and proactively identify and mitigate risks-particularly around fire safety, water systems, and compliance.
The mechanical quality assurance manager will be expected to oversee QA on multiple sites, ensuring all works meet specification, British/European standards, and programme deadlines. You'll be hands-on when required, supporting defect resolution, snagging, and client liaison.
Key Responsibilities:
* Act as site lead for all mechanical QA matters, coordinating directly with site teams, contractors, and clients as the mechanical quality assurance manager.
* Monitor and inspect installations, ensuring compliance with drawings, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
* Maintain QA records, produce reports, and contribute to weekly updates and progress reviews in your capacity as a mechanical quality assurance manager.
* Identify common points of failure and implement proactive measures to eliminate risk and drive best practices.
* Provide technical support to site operatives, ensuring proper methods and tools are used at all stages of the install.
Requirements:
* Proven experience in a site/project management role with a background as a mechanical or plumbing engineer-ideally stepping into a mechanical quality assurance manager role.
* Minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in mechanical/plumbing discipline.
* At least 5 years of supervisory experience on large-scale residential or student accommodation projects.
* Strong understanding of QA processes, ISO standards, and mechanical commissioning principles-skills central to a mechanical quality assurance manager.
* Excellent planning, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
* Flexibility to travel and lodge away during the week, as expected of a site-based mechanical quality assurance manager.
* Full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
* SMSTS/SSSTS, First Aid, PASMA, MEWP, Asbestos Awareness, or similar certifications.
* Experience with QA platforms such as Fieldview, Aconex, or Procore, particularly beneficial for a mechanical quality assurance manager.
* Awareness of sustainable practices and carbon reduction strategies.
Salary: circa £55k plus car allowance - plus benefits
