Leeds City College is recruiting for an Apprentice Teacher in English to join our School of Social Sciences at Quarry Hill Campus. We seek a dynamic, talented, and organized individual to undertake this important role.
As an Apprentice Teacher, you will gain on-the-job experience while working towards a Level 5 Certificate in Education, provided internally through University Centre Leeds. You will also receive support from our dedicated Teaching, Learning, and Assessment team, who share their expertise and guidance on best practices.
This is a fixed-term apprenticeship role lasting 24 months.
What You Will Do
This role involves designing and delivering engaging English sessions to learners aged 16-18 and adults of varying abilities. You will collaborate with the Course Leader of English and other teachers to meet qualification requirements and work with Study Support coaches to identify learners needing extra support.
You will:
* Plan, prepare, and develop schemes of work, lesson plans, and teaching resources, including online learning materials.
* Deliver inspiring sessions across the curriculum using diverse teaching methods.
* Create assessment activities, provide developmental feedback, and motivate learners.
* Develop relationships with students to support their success.
* Join a supportive team passionate about developing learners' self-esteem and abilities.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
* Good general education, including Maths and English Level 2 or above (or GCSE Grade 4+).
* Level 3 qualification such as a Level 3 apprenticeship, A-Levels, BTEC, or NVQ.
* Experience supporting young people in education.
