Contract: Temporary - 12 weeks
Pay: £12.85 per hour
Hours & Shift Pattern:
* Monday - Thursday: 7.00am - 3.00pm
* Friday: 7.00am - 2.30pm
* Shifts will include weekends, Bank Holidays, and extra-Statutory Days
Main Duties
* Collect waste from households and businesses in line with the Council's recycling and waste strategy.
* Collections include: Food waste; Garden waste; Residual waste (black bags); Hygiene waste; Dry recycling (paper, glass, cans); Trade waste
* Deliver a high-quality service by ensuring: All collections are completed on schedule; Areas are left clean and safe; Receptacles are returned tidily without blocking pavements or driveways; Assisted and extra allocation collections are carried out correctly; You remain polite and professional with the public; Monitor recycling contamination and follow procedures; Work effectively and positively as part of a team; Follow Health & Safety policies and safe working practices; Attend training as required to perform duties safely and effectively; Report incidents, concerns, or equipment issues promptly; Complete all required paperwork accurately and on time; Act as Relief HGV Driver/Team Leader if qualified (HGV driver rate will be paid); Work at other depots when needed (transport may be provided or mileage reimbursed); Undertake additional duties when required, including: Litter bin emptying; Litter picking; Town centre sweeping; Safe removal of sharps (if trained); Support the Council during emergencies (e.g., flooding, snow clearance, storm response).
Qualifications & Experience
* Relevant experience in a similar operational role.
* Willingness to work effectively as part of a team.
* Knowledge of Health & Safety and compliance with procedures.
* Ability to self-motivate and work with minimal supervision.
* Strong communication skills.
* Commitment to delivering a high-quality service.
* Willingness to undertake relevant training.
* Flexibility to work outside core hours if needed.
* A clean, current driving licence (desirable but not essential).
* Welsh language skills desirable (training available if required).
