Offer description

Are you wanting a new challenge where no two days are the same? Do you want to provide admin support for the children’s homes, if so, this is the job opportunity for you. We are looking to recruit an experienced administrator to this exciting position.

This post is subject to the Fluency Duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act. The post-holder is required to demonstrate an appropriate level of fluency under the duty as detailed within the job specification for the post.

The post is part time working 18.5 hours each week. Where you will be based is not yet decided as the small homes do not have rooms which could be used as office space.

There will be times where you will spend time in the homes for example team meetings (taking minutes), purchase cards and dealing with the petty cash imprest. All the other work can be done remotely either through working from home or in different council buildings, we can be flexible with this.

It would be advantageous if you are able to travel between the homes.

Our ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and highly motivated. Have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels and personal resilience to dealing with challenging people, while maintaining a good sense of humour.

This role would suit an individual who enjoys working with finances as the duties include handling petty cash, reconciliations and reimbursements. Processing invoices and dealing with purchase card transactions. Accuracy and attention to detail is essential in all areas of work.

Excellent customer care and communication skills are essential along with the ability to work as part of a team or independently using your own initiative.

You will be required to update our social care recording system, deal with general administrative tasks to support senior managers and other professionals within the service, respond to emails and have the ability to multi-task.

It is desirable that you are able to prepare agendas and minute meetings using a laptop. If you do not have the relevant experience training will be given.

Due to the nature of the role, it is essential that you are fully aware of all aspects of data protection and confidentiality as you will be working in an environment dealing with extremely sensitive and emotive information on a daily basis, including information relating to the abuse and injuries to children and young people.

Core office hours are 8.30 -17.00 Monday to Thursday and 8.30-16.30 on a Friday. This post is part of the flexi time scheme.

Wakefield Council employees have access to corporate offers and discounts from local and national companies on a wide range of products and services, including discounted travel tickets and leisure membership.

A standard DBS check and clearance will be required for this post.
