Location: Watford – this is a full‑time office based position

Our client is a global leader in providing procurement, supply chain and logistics services on a wide range of products within the Mining, Oil & Gas, Marine, and Renewables sectors.

Due to an exciting period of growth, they are continuing to expand their team and are seeking a Buyer. As a Buyer you will play a vital role in assisting clients by understanding their requirements, providing guidance, and ensuring optimal solutions. You will be responsible for preparing quotes and tender bids, negotiating with suppliers from both technical and commercial perspectives.

Whilst previous Buying or procurement experience is preferred, we are also open to considering transferable skills, therefore this is an excellent opportunity for someone seeking a progressive career in procurement/sourcing to join a growing international business with excellent training and career prospects.


Key responsibilities:

* Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and suppliers within the industry.
* Analyse client requests and projects from a technical standpoint to assess feasibility and offer suitable solutions.
* Scrutinise and challenge supplier quotes, ensuring they align with client requirements and industry standards.
* Negotiate supplier contract terms to secure favourable agreements for the organisation.
* Meet sales targets by effectively promoting products and services to clients.
* Follow detailed client processes and procedures to ensure compliance and quality standards.


Skills & Experience:

* Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities efficiently.
* Keen attention to detail to ensure accuracy in quotes and contracts.
* Strong telephone manner when engaging with clients and suppliers.
* Effective problem‑solving abilities to address challenges and find suitable solutions.
* Ability to prioritise and manage a high workload while meeting deadlines.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Team player mindset to collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments.
* Resilience and tenacity to overcome obstacles & achieve targets.
* Additional language skills, especially French and Portuguese, would be advantageous.
