Cybercrime&ForensicServices(C&FS)providescriticalsupporttoFISinvestigationsnationallythroughtheprovisionofimportantforensicservices.Fromsupportingwarrantexecutionstothepreservationandanalysisofdigitalevidence.ThisisauniqueopportunitytoberesponsibleforcriticalelementsofourAudio-VisualForensicServiceprovidedtoHMRCsinvestigationteams.YouwillensurethatallaspectsofAudio-VisualForensicworkarecarriedoutthehigheststandard,adheringtoforensicstrategyandprinciples,andmeetingForensicScienceRegulatorrequirements.
AsanAudio-VisualPractitioner,youwillbedealingwithawidevarietyofaudio-visualevidencesuchasvideo,CCTV,audioandphotography.Assistingofficerswithhandling,processingandpresentingthisevidenceinafactualandforensicmannerforinterviewandcourt.
TheForensicScienceRegulator(FSR)hasprovidedclearinstructionthatallforensicserviceproviderswithinthecriminaljusticesystemwillbecomecompliantwiththeFSRCodesandPracticeofConduct(FSRCodes)aswellasrelevantISOstandardsfortheconductofdigitalforensicsactivities.AudioVisualPractitionersaresubjectmatterexpertsandthereforeresponsiblefordevelopinganddeliveringdocumentedtechnicalprocedure,maintainingqualitychecksandthecompetencyframework,aswellasobtainingUKASaccreditationtotherequiredstandard(s).
Personspecification
ReportingtotheSeniorAudio-VisualPractitioner,theresponsibilitiesofanAudio-VisualPractitionerare:
* Processingofanalogueanddigitaldevicespertainingtoaudio,video&photographicmediaincludingacquisition,enhancement(audioandvisual),editingandproductionofaudio,videoandphotographicmaterialforpresentationtotheCriminalJusticesystem.
* AttendingbothfriendlysitesandaddressesunderwarranttotriageandrecoverCCTVdata/conductforensicscenephotography.
* Troubleshootingtechnicalproblemsunderpressureandprovidingtechnicaladvicetoofficersinsupportofforensicsubmissions.
* Manageforensicexhibitstoensurecontinuity,confidentialityandsecurityisalwaysmaintained.
* Abilitytoworkinafast-pacedenvironment,managingmultipletasksthroughtocompletion.
* Attendingcourtasaprofessional/expertwitness.
* AssisttheAudioVisualaccreditationleadwiththeimplementation&maintenanceoftechnicalprocedures,establishingandmaintainingvalidationofAVforensicmethodsandassessingandtestingstaffcompetency.
* PositivelyendorseandnurtureaculturethatunderstandsandembracestherequirementtoworktotheFSRcodeofpractice,qualityframeworksandremaincommittedtocontinuousimprovement.

* TheapplicanthasalreadyachievedLEVACertifiedVideoTechnicianStatus(Level1&2)orbewillingtoworktowardsit.
* Demonstrateaworkingknowledgeofatleastoneofthebelow:
* CCTVandVideo-Forensicvideoapplications,acquisition/recoverymethods,conversionmethods,videoeditingtechniques,enhancement.
* Audio-Forensicaudioapplications,acquisition/recoverymethods,conversionmethods,audioeditingtechniques,enhancement.
* Photography-forensicphotographictechniquesandtheirapplicationinacontrolenvironmentoronscene,methodsofimageenhancementandimagequalityassessment.
* Theabilitytoundertakeatechnicalanalysisofaudio&videorecordingssubmittedinevidenceandreportonfindings.
* Abilitytocommunicatetechnicalconceptsandfindingstoanon-technicalaudience.
* ExperienceofworkingtowardsandobtainingISO17025accreditation(forAudioVisualforensicspecifically)inaccordancewiththeForensicRegulatorsguidance,toincludemaintainingteamrecords,improvingprocessesandthewritingofstandardoperatingprocedures.
* HoldafullUKDrivingLicence&bewillingtodriveonofficialbusiness.

FlexibilityPayment
ThispostattractsaLevel2FlexibilityPayment(FP)thatispaidmonthlywithsalary.ThisFPallowsHMRCflexibilitytochangeyourworkpattern,atshortnotice,tomeetbusinessneeds.YouwillbeexpectedtoundertakeperiodsofOnCall.Youwillalsobeexpectedtoworkadditionalhours,atweekendsandoutsideyournormalworkinghours/days(includingbankholidays).
InapplyingforapositionandacceptingtheFPyouagreethatyoucanandwillmeetthoseattendancerequirements.
FPlevelsarereviewedannuallyonabusinessneedandpersonalbasisandmaybesubjecttochange.

TrainingRequirements:
Dependingonexistingexperience,youwillbeexpectedtoundertakeAudio-VisualForensicstraining,rangingfromin-housetrainingtoexternalcourses.
Therewillbea6monthtrainingassessmentperiod.
PublicandPersonalSafetyTraining(PPST)
Applicantswillberequiredtobeclearedbyanoccupationalhealthassessmenttobeabletoattendapublicandpersonalsafetytraining(PPST)course.SuccessfulcompletionofthePPSTisrequiredtoundertakedutiesawayfromtheofficeforthisrole.FailuretopassandmaintainthePPSTcertificatemayaffectreceiptoftheflexibilitypayment.
