JOB TITLE: Head of Business and Commercial Banking – Business Products, Conduct and Compliance Risk Specialist
SALARY: £114,810 - £135,070
LOCATION(S): Edinburgh, Bristol or Birmingham
HOURS: Full-time
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, involving at least two days per week or 40% of our time at one of our office sites

We’re seeking a leader for our Business and Commercial Banking – Business Products Risk Specialist team to develop a Conduct & Compliance Risk centre of excellence, supporting robust risk management aligned with the Group’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF). You will provide leadership, insight, and oversight to support the Business. Your role involves implementing risk policies, appetite, and control objectives to achieve customer, regulatory, and strategic outcomes. You should bring significant compliance experience, be innovative, and proactive in working with business leaders and compliance experts to find new opportunities to meet customer needs effectively.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
1. Leading Business and Commercial Banking Conduct & Compliance Risk, building positive external relationships.
2. Overseeing compliance with UK regulations impacting BCB & CIB, especially product regulations.
3. Creating oversight plans and providing opinions on compliance and regulatory obligations.
4. Collaborating with Risk and Control teams to provide expertise and support strategic outcomes.
5. Producing data and documentation for risk monitoring, reporting findings clearly.
6. Supporting effective management of conduct and compliance data-led risk objectives.
7. Investigating Conduct & Compliance Risk issues and escalating as needed.
8. Managing actions on Risk events and breaches, recommending improvements.
9. Proactively suggesting ideas to improve team effectiveness and efficiency.
10. Supporting the embedding of the Resetting Risk operating model, demonstrating proactive application of RAPID and growth mindset.

What you’ll need:
* Proven experience in a Compliance Advisory role within a Financial Institution, managing a team.
* Deep expertise in Business and Commercial Banking Conduct & Compliance Risk, especially product regulations like CMA, CONC, Consumer Duty, FLA.
* Good knowledge of commercial lending, working capital, business loans, mortgages, asset and invoice finance, trade finance.
* Strong understanding of current compliance frameworks and technology used across financial and non-financial services.
* Proficiency in applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
* Ability to make timely, informed decisions balancing complex data and information.
* Experience as a business partner, building collaborative relationships, supporting risk-based decision-making.
* Leadership skills in mentoring to enhance team capabilities aligned with Group Strategy and Purpose.
