Overview
Core subject (Maths, English, or Science) SEN/SEND Tutors for Young People with SEND, SEMH, and other Additional Educational Needs required in Essex. Multiple positions are available and hiring is ongoing to meet the wide variety of needs we support. We are on a mission to transform the quality of education provided to young people with SEN/SEND (Special Education Needs and Disabilities), as well as SEMH needs (Social, Emotional and Mental Health). We are increasingly supporting children and young people with MLD (Moderate Learning Difficulties) and SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties). We are looking for SEN/SEND tutors with a genuine passion for transforming the lives of disengaged, at-risk, and vulnerable learners in Essex. At Targeted Provision our mission is to raise the standard of educational support offered to vulnerable young people in the UK. We keep the team around the child, and you will be supported throughout every placement by our team of SEN/SEND Support Specialists. This role is perfect for qualified SEN/SEND teachers who are eager to work via 1:1 tutoring with children and young people with a variety of learning needs, in a creative, flexible, holistic, and trauma-informed manner, to raise their engagement and drastically improve the outlook of their educational journey. This role involves providing Maths, English, or Science tuition to young people with Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND), SEMH needs, or other Additional Educational Needs referred to Targeted Provision.

* Young people are referred to us by local authorities and schools and will require support in their educational and social-emotional journey
* If selected, your role will be to provide support via flexible and holistic trauma-informed tutoring and mentoring
SEN/SEND Tutor tasks and responsibilities
* Planning each session of teaching/tutoring/mentoring
* Providing holistic and engaging sessions which meet the young person’s needs and advance their educational and social-emotional journey
* Completing lesson reports and providing feedback on progress; this position involves engaging with us as a Worker to provide short-term engagements as they arise
* You will work through a contract for service and will be paid via PAYE
* We do not offer any set amount of work nor expenses coverage
* Our insurance covers the work you do for us
* This is not a self-employed tutoring/teaching position
Qualifications and requirements
* Professional Teaching Qualifications (Qualified Teacher Status/QTS/QTLS)
* Minimum 2 years teaching experience
* Experience working with young people with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, and/or other Additional Educational Needs
* Experience, knowledge and understanding of safeguarding processes
* Enhanced DBS (we can help obtain this at cost if needed)
* Two professional references
* You must be based in the UK with the right to work in the UK, even for remote/online assignments
* You must have the ability to promote the health, safety and wellbeing of children and young people and follow safeguarding policies and procedures at all times

Similarly, individuals with highly relevant experience from teaching backgrounds may have worked in roles such as: SENCo, SLD/MLD Teacher, Autism/ADHD Support Teacher, Intervention Specialist, Ex-Teacher; or from therapeutic and learning support backgrounds such as Learning Support Assistant (LSA), Educational Therapist, Speech and Language Therapist, Educational Psychologist, or Inclusion Coordinator.
