Recycling Advisor's will work within the waste and recycling team, carrying out engagement and delivery of activities across complex property types, working with internal and external stakeholders lead by the Community Recycling Projects Coordinator.
Working in close partnership with its waste collection operator, Cheshire West Recycling Ltd (CWR) deliver behaviour change, supporting infrastructure improvement projects. These projects, funded through Packaging Extended Producer Responsibility (pEPR), are focused on increasing participation in recycling, improving the quality and capture of materials — particularly packaging — and supporting both local and national recycling objectives.
The postholder will collate and provide quality data required in order to improve materials being presented by residents, ensuring the correct material is being placed into the correct container, which will improve the recycling rates across the borough.

We are looking for a passionate and proactive Recycling Advisor to join our Waste and Recycling Team. This role is key to driving positive behaviour change, improving recycling participation, and supporting infrastructure projects across Cheshire West and Chester. Working closely with our waste collection partner, Cheshire West Recycling Ltd (CWR), you will help deliver innovative projects funded through Packaging Extended Producer Responsibility (pEPR) to meet local and national recycling objectives.
What You’ll Do:
Engage with residents through doorstepping, events, and community visits to promote correct recycling practices.
Support enforcement initiatives and work with housing officers, landlords, and enforcement partners to improve compliance.
Deliver behaviour change campaigns and collaborate with schools, universities, and community groups.
Organise workshops and focus groups to involve residents and stakeholders in service design.
Collect and analyse data to monitor recycling participation and quality, supporting continuous improvement.
Assist with the development of communication materials such as leaflets, bin stickers, and signage.
Respond to customer enquiries and maintain accurate records using CRM and GIS systems.
About You
You will have for this role:
Excellent communication and engagement skills with the ability to influence behaviour.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, external partners, and the community.
Comfortable working in a hybrid role with regular site visits across the borough lone or with a team member/s
Knowledge of waste and recycling services is desirable but not essential training will be provided.
Must have a full UK driver’s licence
