Position Category:Information Technology
Position Type:Employee Regular
The holder of this role is a member of Server and Networks team responsible for supporting the ongoing delivery, development, and maintenance of on-premise networking services, with some overlap into cloud services (Azure, zScaler)
The Server and Networks team is a core part of LRQA’s infrastructure function. Focusing primarily on on-premise networking and server hardware, there is also a strong responsibility within the team to manage the zScaler configuration across the organisation. As LRQA is a cloud-first organisation, there is also the potential for Azure networking configuration via Terraform.
Reporting to the Server and Networks Manager, the role requires someone with good attention to detail who will work closely with the wider architecture, infrastructure, and security teams, to develop and deliver resilient and consistent server and network services as part of LRQA’s core business service. The Role holder is expected to be able to support the current networking infrastructure in our office and data centre environments and support the modernisation of this platform.
The team are encouraged to collaborate, share knowledge, and work collectively to cross-skill with other disciplines, so an element of being able to work in a collaborative environment is critical to the success of this role.
The role will also require you to work closely with support vendors to ensure that incidents related to the platform are handled within the agreed service levels and act as an agent for any technical escalations that require specialist support. Given the nature of the role, there is also a regular requirement for work within typical server and network environments, such as on-premise comms rooms and external office and data centre deployments across the globe. Working from home is expected when there is no requirement to visit physical locations.

* Manage and maintain the configuration of LRQA’s existing zScaler deployment, including ZIA, ZPA, ZDX, ZCC et al
* Assist the platform team in cloud-to-onprem networking requirements, such as Site to Site VPNs and routing, up to and including edge networking within Azure (Firewall, NSGs)
* Collaborate with the Security Team to support best practice network security and ZTNA initiatives
* Create and maintain comprehensive documentation regarding the server and network estate, including high and low level information (diagrams, asset registers)
* Participate in on-call rotations and provide out-of-hours support when required
* Attend sites globally as required, to help maintain on-premise deployments
Technical/Professional Qualifications/Requirements :
* 7+ years of hands-on server and network engineering experience in mid to large global enterprise environments
* Proven experience with; Cisco, Meraki, Palo Alto, zScaler and Azure – certifications in these areas are highly advantageous (e.g CCNP, Meraki CMNA, PCNSE, ZCCA-IA/ZCCA-PA)
* Strong understanding of network security principles; VPNs, SD-WAN, IPSec, DNS, DHCP, VLANs
* Good understanding of networking protocols (e.g. BGP, OSPF, VPN, NAT, ACLs)
* Experience with networking monitoring and performance tools; SolarWinds, Wireshark
* Excellent documentation and communication skills, able to inform at all levels of detail
* Familiarity with Terraform for IaC change and Azure DevOps pipelines
* Experience with cloud-native security models and SIEM/SOC integration
