Building Surveyor
Location: Covering South/South East England
Salary: £36,950 - £48,440 per annum (dependent on experience)
Hours: 35 per week
Contract: Permanent
At the British Red Cross, we are looking for a qualified (or experienced) surveyor to join our South/South Eastern regional team.
Are you a solutions-focused surveyor who can take accountability for all property-related works including:
* Producing project drawings using Computer Aided Design (CAD).
* Managing schedules of work on site.
* Being responsible for the job from start to conclusion.
* Assisting with driving revenue through shops with refit activity.
What will a Building Surveyor's job involve?
In this role, you'll work closely with UK Operations & Retail Managers and building users within a specific geographical area. You'll be supported by, and work closely with, the wider Property Department and the support team at the Red Cross’ Shared Service Centre.
You will collaborate with internal clients and property professionals to ensure consistent support across all property-related activities. The role covers properties across different UK regions, primarily working from home with regular site visits. The position requires travel and working outside normal hours as necessary, with a company car provided due to travel requirements.
To be a successful Building Surveyor, you’ll:
* Have a surveying qualification e.g. MCIOB, MRICS or qualified by experience.
* Experience in responsibilities such as building defect diagnosis, fire risk assessments, asbestos management, and basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
* Be dynamic, adaptable, with the drive to manage a multi-site portfolio.
* Experience in property inspections and report production.
* Ability to produce tender documents, arrange tenders, and act as a contract administrator.
* Negotiation skills with external stakeholders including landlords and solicitors.
* Be a team player, solution-oriented, effective communicator, and influencer.
* Hold a full UK driving license and be able to travel within the region (sometimes with little notice).
