Castlefield is seeking a skilled and adaptable Radiographer with a passion for theatre imaging to join a specialist imaging team. This is an exciting opportunity for a radiographer to focus on high-quality X-ray in a theatre setting, working alongside surgical teams. The role primarily involves Theatre, X-ray sessions, delivering precise imaging to support surgical procedures, with opportunities to gain experience in CT patient positioning over time.
Comprehensive induction and training programme will be given, working closely with the Lead Radiographer. You will develop specialist knowledge and expertise, producing high-quality diagnostic images that support accurate diagnosis and treatment while upholding excellent standards of patient care.
The successful candidate must demonstrate high professional and technical standards, the ability to adapt to different learning environments, and a commitment to continuous professional development. They will also participate in departmental governance activities, including risk management, health and safety, research, and audit.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform high-quality X-ray imaging in a theatre setting, primarily supporting orthopaedic and surgical procedures
* Work closely with surgeons and theatre staff to capture precise, accurate imaging during procedures
* Assist with CT patient positioning and scanning workflow as required (optional development)
* Ensure patient comfort, safety, and professional care throughout all imaging procedures
* Support the smooth running of the imaging service, including organising workflow and assisting colleagues
* Maintain accurate records and documentation for patient care, audit, and reporting purposes
* Contribute to departmental governance, including health & safety, risk management, and quality assurance
* Participate in continuous professional development and service improvement initiatives
Person Specification (Essential)
* HCPC-registered Radiographer with proven experience in X-ray imaging, ideally in a theatre or orthopaedic setting
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to interact effectively with patients, surgical teams, and colleagues
* Skilled in positioning patients for a wide range of theatre procedures, adapting techniques as required
* Able to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Committed to maintaining confidentiality, professional standards, and ethical practice
* Enthusiastic about developing specialist theatre X-ray expertise; willingness to learn CT is an advantage
* Knowledge of infection control, radiation safety, and health & safety procedures, applying them consistently in practice
