Drainage Engineer Van Pack – Lanes Group
We are looking for a customer‑focused drainage engineer to work on our Thames Water contract service, delivering effective solutions to waste‑water network and drainage problems.
About the Role
Position: Van Pack Drainage Engineer
Location: Ryemeads Treatment Works, Home Counties North Region (Ware, Hertfordshire)
Job Type: Permanent, full‑time
Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours plus every other weekend (working early and late)
Salary: OTE £37,000 per annum (basic pay, overtime, on‑call allowance and bonuses)

Responsibilities
* Travel to residential sites by van to power a high‑pressure water jet for restoration.
* Clean, clear and maintain drainage systems.
* Record each job report correctly on the specialist equipment provided.
* Run diagnostics and repairs on drains.
* Deliver good customer service.
* Maintain good health and safety practice while carrying out works.
* Ensure vehicle stock is full and replenished.
* Comply with health and safety responsibilities, i.e. PPE / safe site setups protecting Lanes Group employees, the public and other road users.
* Utilise VISTEC and Salesforce platforms.
* Work unsupervised in all weather conditions, wearing correct PPE and utilising the lone worker system.
* Dynamically risk‑assess site access and working conditions depending on specific circumstances on arrival.
* Liaise with the client regarding process and any updates.
* Provide support to your colleagues.
* Conduct thorough inspections of tools, equipment and plant before and after use.
* Report any defects or malfunctions.
* Carry out risk assessments and have a mature approach to risk perception.
* Be aware of all Lanes Group policies and your responsibilities towards them.
* Complete any other reasonable ad‑hoc tasks, duties or projects as requested by management.
About You
Hard‑working, respectful and compliant with health and safety standards. Experience in high‑pressure jetting equipment is useful but not essential. Other drainage qualifications such as NRSWA and Confined Spaces are an advantage. Full UK driver’s licence is required.
