Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the ELHT Rheumatology Administration Team as a Admin / Clerical Officer. This is a part-time and permanent position. Your base will be at Blackburn Hospital. There may be a requirement for some cross site working as service needs.

We invite candidates that are keen, enthusiastic and committed to improving patient services with excellent communication skills and the ability to work under pressure, in order to provide comprehensive administration support to the Rheumatology services. The successful applicant will be required to provide an efficient and high quality service to the general public, patients and staff.


Main duties of the job

A flexible approach to work is essential with a willingness to work at other Trust sites as you may be required to cover for holidays or sickness absence. You will be trained on all systems used at the Hospital. Your duties will include but are not limited to,

* Support the rheumatology multidisciplinary team in providing a high quality and efficient patient centred rheumatology service
* Work in partnership with the specialist rheumatology nurse in the provision of a high quality and efficient patient centred rheumatology service to the Trust
* Maintain the highest standards of patient-focused care in the provision of the service in line with corporate objectives and government initiatives
* Act as a role model and provide a consistently high quality of clerical support and administrative duties to the rheumatology team
* Support the agreed policies and procedures of the department and adhere to Trust policies and procedures concerning clerical and administrative duties
* Work closely with other staff in the directorate to ensure the delivery of an integrated rheumatology department
* Contribute to the development of the service

Person specification


Qualifications


Essential criteria

* GCSE grade C/4 in English and Maths or equivalent
* ECDL or equivalent
* previous admin experience
* Experience in an office based environment
* Ability to multi task
* Good Communication skills
* Ability to demonstrate confidentiality and sensitivity when dealing with the public
* Ability to work under pressure, using own initiative
* Ability to work as part of a team
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* IT skills using microsoft office
* Complaint handling
* Good organisational skills
* Car Driver


Desirable criteria

* NVQ 3 in Business administration/Customer service
* EMIS/CERNER
* Telephone experience
* Customer care training
