We are currently recruiting for a multi-skilled or electrically biased Maintenance Technician to join the Engineering Team at our Portbury production facility in Bristol. The facility is a dried blending and mixing production site where we create flavour blends for some of the world's best-loved brands, with hundreds of tonnes of product precisely measured, mixed, and packaged every week.
This is a permanent position with a 3- or 4-shift pattern – AM/PM/Nights/Days.
Key Responsibilities
* Comply with health and safety policies and regulations.
* Resolve breakdowns, carry out PMs, and work on projects/improvement works to minimize production downtime.
* Conduct risk assessments with relevant personnel and implement controls to minimize risks to acceptable levels where reasonably practicable.
* Lock off dangerous machinery immediately or repair and notify accordingly.
* Proactively undertake PMs on offline machinery when time permits.
* Complete PM sheets thoroughly, including observations, jobs completed, and recommendations, and file with the Maintenance Planner, always seeking improvements.
* Gather as much information as possible from production personnel regarding machine faults to speed up fault-finding.
* Ensure engineering logs and computer systems are fully updated with all relevant information, including PM numbers, used parts, plant numbers, urgency of parts, at the end of each shift.
* Maintain professional communication with external contacts, reflecting the company's profile.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
To succeed, candidates should demonstrate the right behaviors and competencies, along with proven experience in a similar role. Ideally, candidates will have:
* HNC, City & Guilds, or time-served apprenticeship with appropriate electrical engineering qualifications.
* Experience in a food manufacturing environment is preferred; experience in any manufacturing sector is highly desirable.
* Electrically biased, multi-skilled, with PLC experience highly desirable.
* Hydraulic and pneumatic systems experience is highly desirable.
* A flexible approach and a positive 'can-do' attitude.
* Experience with SAP is highly desirable.
