About the Role:
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-focused Materials Controller to join a leading railway infrastructure company. In this key position, you will manage and expedite materials to align with production schedules and contractual obligations. Your responsibilities will include warranty management, inventory control, materials planning, and fostering strong customer relationships to support operational and commercial objectives. You will also contribute significantly to process compliance, continuous improvement initiatives, and the promotion of health, safety, and environmental standards within your area of responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage warranty returns and coordinate with fleet teams to resolve claims efficiently.
Oversee inventory management, prioritising replenishment and repairable parts to maintain optimal stock levels.
Engage proactively with internal departments and external suppliers to ensure supply priorities are clear and met.
Develop and maintain operational processes related to supply chain activities and material flow.
Monitor adherence to internal control procedures and initiate corrective actions where necessary.
Coordinate materials planning and forecasting between fleet operations and inventory specialists.
Build and sustain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support current and future business opportunities.
Optimise material utilisation to support fleet operations effectively.
Implement and promote health, safety, and environmental policies, ensuring team awareness and compliance.
Actively participate in continuous improvement programmes and quality initiatives.
Skills Required:
Proven experience in stock control and inventory management.
Comprehensive knowledge of materials and stores management procedures, including warranty processes.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively.
Excellent communication and liaison skills across all organisational levels.
Ability to monitor and enforce compliance with internal procedures.
Experience in materials planning and forecasting.
Customer relationship management skills.
Proactive problem-solving approach with a continuous improvement mindset.
Understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations relevant to materials management.
Good IT literacy and familiarity with relevant software systems.

Certifications & Standards:
Knowledge of and compliance with HSQE policies (Health, Safety, Quality, Environment)
