We’re one inclusive, global family that’s committed to innovation in aerospace The Role Reporting to the Head of Global Finance Transformation, Ontic are seeking to appoint a Data Engineer to support the Global Finance Transformation function (GFT). The purpose of this role is to support GFT by analysing data across multiple systems, producing data models, identifying gaps in the data models, and making recommendation for improvements. As part of this role, you will be expected to develop dashboards and reports to present data insights to stakeholders around the business. This is a very exciting and varied role and therefore will best suit a self-starter willing to deeply understand the broader company objectives and how proposed GFT / data projects support them. Key accountabilities of the position; Perform exploratory data analysis on a range of complex business problems. Administer and maintain the Snowflake Data Warehouse following company data policy and best practices. Contribute to data pipelines that clean, transform and aggregate data from disparate data sources into reporting data stores Contributing to the translation of data into valuable insights that inform data driven decisions. Develop dashboards and reports to present data insights to stakeholders around the business. Collaborating with all areas of the business and continuously seeking improvement – identifying industry trends and value creation opportunities to maximize the potential of the department and build a “finance team of the future”. Working closely with the finance systems and internal control teams to ensure the design and effectiveness of systems, processes and controls provide a strong and robust environment. Working closely with the IT and digital transformation function to deliver and implement solutions to support the transformation strategy. Demonstrate in-depth technical capabilities and professional knowledge. Demonstrate ability to quickly assimilate to new knowledge. Possess good business acumen. Remain current on new developments in advisory services capabilities and industry knowledge. The Candidate The ideal candidate will have proven experience of administering and working in a Data Warehouse (experience of Snowflake desirable) and building data models and flows from various sources. They will be independently minded with high levels of personal integrity, clear thinking with a structured process driven approach. They will be seeking to learn and to develop their career within a dynamic and entrepreneurial business. A self-starter who is prepared to work in a fast-paced environment and can plan/ prioritise workload, supporting and working within a tight knit finance team. In addition, you will: have strong verbal and written communications skills with the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels and for translating data insights into concise executive summaries and presentations. have good knowledge of data warehousing and data modelling principles. have experience of administering, creating, and maintaining data pipelines in an ELT application that cleans, transforms, and aggregates data from disparate data sources into reporting data stores. have experience documenting ELT specifications such as source to target mappings, business rules and data validation requirements, ETL functional and non-functional requirements. have exposure / experience of DBT possess strong SQL programming experience in a commercial setting. be a self-starter and have strong skills in Power BI including dashboard building, data gathering/cleaning, and best practice demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail. be able to present findings in a structured, clear manner with actionable insights. possess ability to both multi-task and manage priorities effectively with the ability to work proactively and independently in meeting stakeholder needs whilst adhering to tight deadlines have appreciation of data security, CCPA, GDPR and PII data handling principles. demonstrate a clear commitment to the organisation’s values. be approachable and diplomatic, whilst being assertive, confident, and able to work as part of a team be well organised and able to multi-task.
