THE ROLE
As an IT Network Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing and maintaining our organisation's network infrastructure. This role is based in our Lymedale DC (Newcastle-under-Lyme).

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
* Manage, deploy and maintain the organisation's network infrastructure, including all voice, data, LAN and WAN components, switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless access points, ensuring availability in line with SLAs.
* Develop and implement cloud networking strategies for public, private, and hybrid cloud environments. Configure and manage virtual networks, subnets, and security groups on platforms like Microsoft Azure.
* Implement and manage network security measures, including Checkpoint and Cisco Firewalls, Cloud Security, VPNs, and remote access solutions. Ensure security best practices for cloud networking to protect data integrity, confidentiality, and availability.
* Provide technical support and guidance to the IT support team. Resolve infrastructure-related incidents, service requests, and problems promptly, liaising with third parties as needed.
* Communicate effectively with users regarding service requests and incidents.
* Conduct problem diagnosis, implement resolution or prevention measures, and handle tasks like audit, monitoring, capacity management, security, and patching.
* Serve as the technical expert for all network-related activities, recommending future enhancements or investments, and participating in capacity planning and network expansion projects.
* Design, deploy, and maintain scalable network architectures both on-premises and in the cloud.
* Maintain technical documentation for IT infrastructure support.
* Participate in 24/7 on-call support and out-of-hours support for the business.
* Ensure capacity, security, availability, and service support requirements are met in all changes, applying Asset and Configuration Management principles.
* Assist in disaster recovery planning and execution for network failures.
WHO YOU ARE
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
* Professional certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CCSA, or Microsoft Azure Network Engineer.
* Proven experience as an IT Network Engineer or similar role.
* Experience with Cloud networking and security.
* Deep knowledge of networking protocols like TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and routing protocols such as OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP.
* Experience configuring Cisco hardware (Catalyst and Nexus) and firewalls (ASA, Checkpoint).
* Experience managing wireless devices and understanding wireless communications.
* Proficiency in network administration, monitoring, and troubleshooting, especially using Cisco tools like Cisco ISE and DNAC.
* Experience with Meraki SDWAN and dashboard.
* Knowledge of network security best practices and technologies.
* Familiarity with F5 Load balancers (desirable).
* Understanding of telephone systems, VoIP, and PSTN.
