As an Artz+ Sportz+ Assistant, you will be an integral part of our dynamic team, traveling to various sessions across Dorset. You will work alongside a fantastic group of support staff and two team leaders, ensuring that every session is a success.
About Us
We provide support to young disabled individuals across Dorset, offering them the chance to participate in a variety of exciting sports and arts activities. Our service not only gives respite to parents and carers but also makes a difference to young people’s lives.
The Role
Your role will involve:
* Supporting individual children or groups in activities such as paddleboarding, ball sports, climbing, mask making, drumming, dance, and more.
* Assisting local artists, instructors, and coaches in delivering engaging sessions in village halls, schools, sports centres, and other venues.
* Ensuring the safety, happiness, and safeguarding of the young people in your care.
* Handling intimate care and moving children following in‑house training.
* Applying a flexible approach to manage behaviour that may be challenging (training will be available).

About you – Qualifications
* Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults qualification.
Experience
* Participation in sports.
* Working in a team.
* Experience working with children.
Skills, abilities & knowledge
* A reasonable standard of literacy and numeracy to plan sessions and follow written instructions.
* Ability to help lead sports sessions to groups.
* Ability to analyse situations and create solutions to problems.
* Good communication skills.
* Aware of health and safety, ideally in a sports environment and when working with young children.
* Understanding of health and safety.
* Effective interpersonal skills.
Further Information
The post is a casual part‑time role with no regular or set hours; currently all work is during the school holidays. The service base is in Dorchester and staff are expected to start and finish their working day there. The service is mobile and uses a Dorset Council vehicle to deliver sessions. Having a clean driving licence, experience of driving a large van, and being over 21 years old is an advantage.
There is a DBS requirement for this role.
